Monetary system and banks in Sweden

Monetary system and banks in Sweden

The basic monetary unit - the Swedish krona. It is produced by the State Bank of Sweden, the oldest of the state banks in the world (founded in 1668). Despite joining the EU, Sweden has decided not to enter immediately into the European Monetary Union and does not proceed to use the single European currency (ECU).
Investments of the State investment bank focused on the development and restructuring of industry, the bank may hold shares in other companies.Commercial banks are not allowed to hold corporate stock, but have a major impact on trade and industry. Agricultural credit societies are accounts of farmers and provide them with short-term loans. Savings banks provide long-term loans to small investors to buy real estate, development of agricultural production and small industrial enterprises. In the mid-1990s was a wave of mergers of several commercial banks in Sweden, with a major concern "Nordbanken," merged with the Finnish bank "Merita" formed an unusual panskandinavskoe banking association.
